Forward bookings surge for coastal B&Bs

A survey of more than 5,000 UK B&Bs has revealed a surge in bookings post Brexit and coastal towns have been the biggest winners.

The report from eviivo, the online booking specialist for independent hotels and B&Bs, claims that forward bookings are up 19.2 per cent year on year compared with the same time last year which is attributed to the low pound, Brexit vote and the triggering of Article 50.

Coastal resorts have been on the crest of a wave as many travellers have shunned European destinations in favour of the English coast. Biggest winners are Penzance, where eviivo says forward bookings have leapt by 35.5%, Scarborough (30.6%), Torquay (27.3%), Bournemouth (22.6%), Great Yarmouth (17.2%), Blackpool (14.4%) and Brighton (12.7%).

“The British seaside offers incredible variety, as our owners in the top-performing Penzance and Scarborough will testify,” said Thomas Messett, CMO of eviivo.
