NCTA England’s Coast September Newsletter

"National events over the past two weeks have put many of us in a reflective mood. Whilst we’ve mourned the loss of our longest reigning monarch, crowds of hundreds of thousands have gathered in respectful celebration of her life and to acknowledge the accession of King Charles III. We have witnessed an extraordinary milestone the like of which we are unlikely to experience again.

On a separate note, I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Kurt Janson OBE for all his hard work as Director of the Tourism Alliance. His regular updates, particularly during the pandemic, have been extremely timely. As he now moves on, he will be hugely missed. We wish him well.

As the country moves into a new era, the industry is also undergoing significant change. Positively, it’s good to note that VisitEngland are progressing their plans to deliver the new Local Visitor Economy Partnerships, holding a series of round table discussions to offer clarity on the delivery mechanism of the conclusions from the de Bois DMO review.

In the build up to 2023 Year of the Coast, we have also started a review of the Coastal Visitor Economy Strategy; we plan to consult with stakeholders over the winter to publish this next year. If you would like more information, don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Best wishes,
Samantha Richardson MBE"
