NCTA England’s Coast July Update
"It may not have been the result we wanted, but the Euro’s final was a win for the hospitality sector with the England appearance delivering an estimated 50% hike in sales on Sunday night and a benefit of around £800m being spent in the UK during the whole tournament.
Michael Kill, CEO of the Night Time Industries Association, went as far as to say it had saved the sector: “This tournament has taken us on an unforgettable journey, allowing us to momentarily set aside our struggles. We hope this will be a pivotal moment that changes the nation’s mood and rekindles our spirit and desire to engage, socialise and celebrate culture.”
Nowhere will this boost be more welcome than on the coast, our latest business survey revealed that more than half of businesses believe turnover is worse this year than last and forward bookings are lower than for 2023. Read the full report below.
A new government brings new opportunities, with so many fresh MPs we’ll be using the results from the latest business survey to make the case for increased support in coastal communities to build long-term growth, so thank you to everyone who contributed.
In the short term, the weather is proving this summer’s biggest obstacle – so bring on the sunshine!"
