Visitor Levy consultation 2026: Coastal Tourism

Visitor Levy consultation 2026: Coastal Tourism

In Autumn 2025 the Government announced its proposal to give Mayors, and possibly other local leaders, the power to impose visitor levies in England. Along with many industry bodies, the NCTA is concerned about the government’s proposal. The sector currently faces steep increases in employment costs and business rates, VAT rates on accommodation are among the highest in Europe and households are grappling with severe cost-of-living pressures.

The NCTA submitted a full online response to the formal consultation which closed on 18 February, as well as sending the letter below as further support of our position.
