Seaside tourism has regained its pole position as England’s largest holiday sector. Domestic and day trip coastal tourism is worth £8bn, representing nearly one third of all domestic overnight trips.

But growth is fragile, coastal businesses face challenges in employment and skills, job increases nationally are not replicated to the same scale on the coast.

So what are the opportunities for tourism growth and how could coastal destinations benefit from sharing advice and research? Our 2016 Coastal Tourism report offers new conclusions.
