December Update
"This year will be remembered as pivotal in human history, not just because of the devastating effects of a human pandemic but because we’ve been forced to reinvent ourselves.
Yet despite the destructive impact on our coastal businesses there have been inspirational examples of reinvention; vineyards transformed into drive-in cinemas, museums launching local produce shops, virtual events amassing huge new audiences and thousands of restaurants repurposed as much-loved takeaways and pavement cafés.
Although many of us are entering 2021 with more optimism than we’ve experienced for most of this year, we’re pragmatic and accept the economic challenges remain onerous - there is no one silver bullet.
However, to plot the way forward we have devised a Recovery Plan in partnership with our destination and business partners which we’ve been sharing with politicians to try and secure recovery funding. Read our latest data on the impact of Covid-19 and plans for recovery here.
The collaboration, reinvention and resilience that’s brought us through in this the toughest of years, is surely an ideal foundation for rebuilding the industry."
